I think I just discovered that I have a fetish I didn't know I had. A British accent.
Guys: you can't fake this. I don't want to hear your best English impersonation. I now work for a global company with its headquarters in London, so there are many people (even based in the US) who have British roots, many of whom I get to speak with on the phone with some frequency. Most of these people I have yet to meet in person, but dang, I don't just enjoy listening to them speak--I actually get kind of turned on. Maybe it's because they always sound so incredibly polite. Maybe politeness is such a novelty now because it's so rare among American men?
I'll be doing a bunch of traveling for work, so I'm sure I'll meet some of these guys soon. I'll just have to remind myself to keep it together and not get too starry-eyed.
Right then, Trying to stay positive. Brilliant.
Skeptic
Oh, and incidentally, BritishAccentOnPhone + PicturesWithWorkDirectory = I have my first crush at this job. Bad things are, he lives in London and is technically on my team. Buuuut.... I will actually meet him in person in another week when he's in town for a meeting.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you acknowledge Hot British Voices On the Phone because I too have gotten a little verklempt, in my last job, talking to our IT guy who was base in CT and I had no clue what he looked like (he was also married).
ReplyDeleteIf I could have Alan Rickman's voice in Ryan Gosling's body, I'd die happy.
Go for it!!!
