Small pet peeve: people who "celebrate" their anniversaries on Facebook.
Your anniversary is a private celebration. By all means, celebrate with your significant other. Paint the town red together, and cap off the night with a marathon session of sex, for all I care. But honestly, you announcing to all the world via Facebook that you are sooooo happy to have been married to your best friend for a whole year to this very day is of no interest to me at all.
That is all.

Worse might be the day-by-day countdown. I swear I'm not bitter, but being primarily single my whole life has made me very humble and sensitive to my public behavior.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I get that these friends are excited, and so much so that they burst at the seams and can't wait to tell the whole world. But I think awareness is low that such behavior might actually be hurtful to others.
DeleteAnd some of it borders on Tom-Cruise-on-Oprah's-couch behavior, and we all know how that turned out.
DeleteOne reason I've been cutting down drastically on Facebook scrolling is because it makes me feel inadequate about my own life, when my own life is perfectly fine!
Yes and yes!
